The Smithsonian Castle Collection secretary desk that inspired the Georgetown Home Office Group was constructed in Washington, D.C. by a Pennsylvania Avenue cabinetmaker between 1836 and 1839. Designed in the "pillar and scroll" sub-style during the American Classical revival period, the original desk features graceful scroll supports wrapped in richly figured mahogany veneers. The Georgetown Left and Right Piers have a halogen can light with touch switch and four adjustable/removable shelves and one fixed shelf each. Grommet holes in the back panel provide hidden cord management.
