Georgetown Open Hutch Unit

Description :
The Smithsonian Castle Collection secretary desk that inspired the Georgetown Home Office Group was constructed in Washington, D.C. by a Pennsylvania Avenue cabinetmaker between 1836 and 1839. Designed in the "pillar and scroll" sub-style during the American Classical revival period, the original desk features graceful scroll supports wrapped in richly figured mahogany veneers. The Georgetown Open Hutch Unit includes one fixed shelf and two adjustable/removable shelves, creating enough open space for a wide-screen television. A low-profile halogen light in the top of the hutch is controlled by a convenient touch switch on the fixed shelf and grommet holes add hidden cord management. This hutch unit may be used with the 307-800 Base Unit for a complete bookcase ensemble.
