Georgetown Door Hutch Unit

Description :
The Smithsonian Castle Collection secretary desk that inspired the Georgetown Home Office Group was constructed in Washington, D.C. by a Pennsylvania Avenue cabinetmaker between 1836 and 1839. Designed in the "pillar and scroll" sub-style during the American Classical revival period, the original desk features graceful scroll supports wrapped in richly figured mahogany veneers. The Georgetown Door Hutch Unit features two wood-framed doors with beveled glass inserts and an adjustable glass shelf. Below the doors is an open space with an adjustable/removable shelf. Task lighting is affixed beneath the door compartment, and a touch switch is located on the right side. Grommet holes on the back panel and behind the doors provide hidden cord management. This hutch unit may be used with the 307-802 or 307-804 Base Units.
