Potomac Armoire

Description :
The Potomac River, silent witness to the rich American history and heritage of the mid-Atlantic region, serves as an inspiration for this armoire. The Libraries of the Smithsonian Institution, preserving the record of this proud heritage, maintains a collection of 1.5 million volumes including 50,000 rare books and manuscripts. With the same rich heritage, the Potomac Armoire is designed after a Virginia clothes press, a wooden closet used by early American pioneers to store and hang clothing. A robust overhanging cornice molding tops two paneled doors, creating a look reminiscent of this original clothes press. Finished in pin knotty cherry veneers in Castle Brick, two lower drawers in the base are set between rounded corner posts and offer an abundance of storage.
