An illustration in the Smithsonian Institution Libraries’ American Art/Portrait Gallery branch serves as the inspiration for the Gallery Rectangular Dining Table. This collection contains 180,000 books, exhibition catalogs, catalogues raisonnés, serials, and dissertations in the area of American art, history, and biography with supportive materials on European Art. A rectangular top with “D” shaped ends is veneered with figured pin knotty cherry. The top rests over a shaped apron rail and turned, tapering, carved legs. The table is fitted for two 23-3/4 inch fillers.
